where dreams never die - chris tock

A pleasant CNY surprise from @FlyFirefly! Gong Xi Fatt Chai!

So one day I got home, and my sisters excitedly told me that a huge package arrived for me, in a very unusual way. Really, it wasn't hard NOT to notice it; you'd think it was a package with a bomb in it if not for the red ribbon and pink flower on top! :D

Image

And so there I was wondering what this is all about, and could not help but to open the package and...

0image

Saw that it was filled with loads of goodies and yummies! Perfect to take back to my hometown for the whole family to share :D So who was this from then? I opened the letter addressed to me and find that...

1image

It came from the Chief Operating Officer of Short Haul Operations/Firefly Malaysia Airlines, Ignatius M.C. Ong as well as the Head of Marketing & Communications of FlyFirefly Sdn Bhd Angelina C. Fernandez! Their message? "Looking forward to more exciting trips with you!" - how much more appreciative can they be? Thank you guys!

2image

It even came with a bottle of wine called "bila-haut", presumedly "drink when you're hot" LOL

3image

The rest of the stuff inside the box. Too sweet! From Rocky (strawberry flavour too!) to keropok to kuih lapis and various biscuits and sweets. Too awesome :))

Thank you @FlyFirefly for this, it really does feel good to be appreciated, and I'm looking forward to fly to various other places with you whilst creating more experience for us together!

OH PS!! PSSS! The awesome @akiraceo has granted my wish to get their lovely calendar custom made by Malaysia's best web cartoonist! ALL FIVE of them!! Take a look!

4image

And I want to give away 2 of them (the other three are for my family members - they love them too and they are asking when will they start seeing Miao on their beds one day *hinthint* while I'm looking forward to more Wafu&Pafu action hehe. If you don't know what I mean, you should check out their blogs at www.akiraceo.com and www.bolehland.net (I don't know the others) and enjoy my favourite comic strippers of all time
Final ps- still haven't figured how to give away the calendars. Maybe I'll share more in my next blog post! Till then, toodles :)

Learning from #Twitter Core Values

I follow Arnaud Meunier with a passion I can only have with another fellow social enthusiast - which is what I call people who spend their time working for the community without profit, in his case, a very powerful tool called Twitoaster. (which I dearly miss!)

His passion has allowed himself to be hired by Twitter, a fast growing micro social network that has taken the world by storm, a tool so powerful that when used correctly, can even toppled governments. He is currently with the Platform Product team and I have no doubt that he will continue to make waves of change on Twitter.

Image

Do follow him at @rno for sneak peeks at what Twitter is up to! Even better, sometimes you get to view stuff you'll never get to see otherwise, like Twitter's core values as per below!

Photo_1

Quoted from some plastic cup on his Instagram:

1. Grow our business in a way that makes us proud.

2. Recognize that passion and personality matter.

3. Communicate fearlessly to build trust.

4. Defend and respect the user's voice. (Love this!)

5. Reach every person on the planet. (Wow!)

6. Innovate through experimentation.

7. Seek diverse perspectives.

8. Be rigorous. Get it right.

9. Simplify.

10. ___ it. I can't for the life of me read the last point, but if anybody can help me out, I would definitely appreciate it! These very same values will be adopted in both Socialgrooves and EYE Project, because I really believe that it will create an impact to everyone in my company.

Thank you Arnaud, do continue to rock the world with your passion!

Listen to PM DS Najib Razak doing the Gotcha on Hitz.fm!

Somebody got pranked on Hitz.fm this morning... By our Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib Razak no less! Listen to the Gotcha call here:

So, the question is- yay or nay? I think it's pretty cool (though the gotcha could be better) but what say you?

Introducing the Olympus XZ-1

The word is out - I'm no longer a part of Lumix's Shutterbug program as they have discontinued the plan indefinitely. Such a shame, I was converting people into Lumix fans, too hehe. Nevertheless, the Lumix LX5 shall be missed dearly and since i'm not going to pay the full price to get another one, I decided to experiment with a new camera...

Photo

And it's none other than the Olympus XZ-1! Having heard good reviews about it, from its Zuiko lense to a very similar Lumix LX5 architecture (even the flash pops up just like the LX5!) I thought I would be a great replacement... And it was either that or the Lumix GF2.

Photo_2

That's when this baby came to the picture: twin LED lights attached to the top! It just looks so adorable and that's when I fell in love with it- also the same time RM1,699 left my wallet (not inclusive of extra battery, pouch and light widget thingie- all at RM2,000)

Photo_3

This bill was footed by my father who understands the current situation of my financial status, especially as I'm just starting up with my own company as well as other initiatives that has costed me quite a bit. Thanks dad! Look, your son has turned into Baja Hitam aka the Masked Rider!

Photo_4

And this is how it looks lighted up. Oh, don't laugh at it- it's going to be a killer feature in dark times. So there you go- the Lumix LX5 will be officially returned this Tuesday, and the Olympus- she's my new black baby ;)

First event that she'll be on duty- tomorrow's (tonight's!) The Oscars Live & Exclusive Screening at Golden Screen Cinemas Pavilion, thanks to Star World ;)

Until then, turrah!

Facebook Photos - Some figures you should know

Recently Pixable.com came up with an interesting infographics. In their analysis, they found out that both girls and guys prefer to look at picture with girls in it. Now while that's obvious, did you know that older people add as much as photos as younger ones?

The main difference is who's tagged more- and again, the reasoning behind it is pretty obvious - privacy (or lack thereof). Check it out!

This Shutterbug presents: the Lumix LX5

So while a quarter of the Malaysian population queued up for the successful Maxis iPhone 4 launch at Gardens (reputated to have 3000+ buyers over 3 hours)  I and the missus had a quiet night with two of our new babies that we took home tonight... One of which I will share soon, and the other... her name is the Lumix LX5. And boy does she look oh so beautiful!

Img_8035

As I stared at the box, I still couldn't believe that I was going to have her for free, courtesy of Panasonic Malaysia of course :P Well, technically it's a one year loan until the next latest range of cameras comes along, but still... considered la ;)

Img_8036

When you open the box you get the usuals: a software CD, the warranty paper and of course, the user guide. Don't underestimate the user guide, you'll never know if you missed certain features that would have otherwise made your camera the best you ever had!

Img_8038

Within the box therein lies the accessories that came together with the Lumix LX5, tucked neatly at the right hand corner. This includes: a battery charger, a two and three pin head for the charger, a stylish Lumix strap and the RGB wires. There's also this mini-strap so that the cap will never be separated from the camera.

Img_8049

And finally... the unwrapping of the camera herself. Welcome Lumix LX5, to the world of the living! Hence forth you will be used for all occasions, because you're the only best thing that ever fitted into my pockets a few generations ago... the difference? You're a powerhouse to be beckon with this time, hopefully a better choice then the Canon S90 too :P

Img_8043

Her screen may just be 3-inches, typical of most cameras of this range... but you can really define the images as if you were looking at it at that current moment. Vivid stuff, for real. Also it looks like you can mount an external flash there, currently protected by a snapping device, giving it a pretty sturdy look. They've also removed the joystick and replaced it with a dial. Gotta have to get used to that :/

Img_8042

On the side angle, you should note that again, it fits perfectly into your pockets apart from the barrel who might attract certain looks for girls in your vicinity :P Note some of the features of the LX5 too, esp on the Leica DC lens, reputed to be one of the best lenses in the world. No joke, that ;)

Img_8047

Bird-eye view shows you full manual control over everything. Looking gorgeous baby, looking gorgeous. How much?

Img_8040

The Lumix LX5, what do you think of it?

Img_8048

Arranging everything that was inside, this is what you should get as a full set. Love the Lumix strap!

Img_8041

Lumix, a world beyong vivid. I'm proud to say that I'm a thorough Lumix advocate, you'll never go wrong with one :)

Kind regards,
